I cut my teeth on backyard shows in Los Angeles.

One of the first gigs my band had with our then new bassist was a night to remember.

We waited (it seemed for hours) just to play our set and once we got our chance we took it HARD.

I forgot my mic stand so someone literally held the mic in front of me while a sang.

He was much shorter than me so I squatted down while I played and sang the guitar. At one point I backed up and tripped over my amplifier only to make it back up in time for the song, but this paled in comparison to what would happen next. We started to play THIS SONG (If Your Rude) and at that moment we had a circle of dancers skanking (Ska dancing in front of us) as well as police intruding the backyard show. With bottles flying, red & blue blue lights flashing, the cherry on top could only be the helicopter above us shining the light down on the dancers in front of us amidst the chaos…I don’t exactly remember the impetus to this song (probably capturing the attitude of those I grew up around the local punk scene a healthy anti disposition to arbitrary authority n’ all ), but I know for sure for my bassist n’ all the rest of us, we will never forget that night.
